"Living with depression is a challenge that strikes unexpectedly, but RCS has helped me find strength on even my toughest days. My passion for photography has been a light in the darkest times, and with the support of my incredible support worker—who often acts as my assistant—I’ve been able to capture hundreds of stunning shots of nature, people, and architecture.
One of my favorite photographs, taken at Snapper Rocks, holds a special place in my heart as it was one of my first. Now, I’m thrilled to share my work at a Gold Coast Art Exhibition. RCS has been instrumental in helping me turn my passion into something meaningful and empowering."

"When I first shared my goals with RCS, some people might have thought they were impossible—especially because I was physically deconditioned at the time. But RCS believed in me from the start. They listened to what I wanted and matched me with two incredible support workers who motivated and encouraged me every step of the way.
Thanks to their unwavering support, I’ve been able to rediscover my love for water activities. Now, I kayak and swim in the ocean every week, enjoying the feeling of sand under my feet and the water around me. I even love ending my sessions with a coffee on the shore. RCS didn’t just help me achieve my goals—they’ve helped me live my best life with a renewed sense of confidence and joy."

Life is an adventure, and I love every minute of it! Thanks to RCS, my weeks are packed with fun and growth. Whether I’m splashing around at the Orion Springfield Lakes water park, hitting the gym, or learning life skills like cooking and banking, I’m always discovering something new about myself.
One of my proudest moments was when I went to buy a Nitro calendar for myself but ended up choosing special calendars for my brothers instead because I knew they’d love them. Family means everything to me, and I’ve even been writing songs about how much I care for them (but the details are top secret!).
RCS has helped me explore my interests—from bowling strikes to singing my heart out—and their support workers, like Glenda, make everything even better. They believe in me, and their encouragement helps me live life with excitement, pride, and a big smile on my face."
Meet Neil
"After my accident, life changed in ways I never expected, but with the support of RCS, I’ve built a life I’m proud of. My week is filled with activities that keep me moving and motivated—swimming at the Helensvale Aquatic Centre, ten-pin bowling, gym sessions, woodworking, and remedial classes.
One of the biggest breakthroughs in my recovery was with my Speech Therapist. After the accident, I couldn’t comprehend anything, but now I can read again, which feels like a miracle. RCS has also helped me with practical things—Amy, one of my amazing support workers, helps me cook meals every fortnight. We prepare and freeze enough nutritious meals to last me two weeks, so I’m always set.
I focus on what I can do instead of what I can’t, and I’m incredibly grateful for my support network. With their help, I’ve learned that life doesn’t stop after an accident—it evolves. And as I like to joke, ‘I’ve got it made—all I did was have an accident and survive...but don’t try it at home!’"
